Research and Technology Deputy of Ministry of Health has implemented the plan of establishing a network of comprehensive research laboratories since 2008. Among the aims of establishing such national medical research laboratories are responding to research needs in laboratory services, organizing research laboratories based on the need of the country and universities, standardizing laboratory research equipment at the university level, using laboratory equipment optimally and enhancing their efficiency, increasing the reliability of the results of studies, boosting and developing network approach in research-related laboratory activities, saving resources, and preparing the infra­structures needed for establishing medical research centers.

Comprehensive Research Laboratory of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences was constructed in an area of 300 m2 at Bu Ali Research Institute in 2010. At present, this labora­tory has a highly modern laboratory and research apparatuses and is ready to provide services and enhance efficiency with regard to research and tool requirements.
